March 2024 Brief Announcements and Highlighted News Items

January 30, 2024

BE SURE TO CHECK KNITTERS NEWS FOR ALL ANNOUNCEMENTS

This page contains brief items too short for Knitters News, plus links to highlighted Knitters News items of special interest. It does not replace Knitters News. Special items of interest Around the Internet and Other Items of Interest can be found near the bottom of this page.

Reminder – the Guild has a Ravelry SDNCKG group page where you can find special announcements not available on the Guild website. Members can post questions to Co-Presidents Tania and Renate, or post anything else for that matter.

New! The Guild has a social media account on Instagram. Expect to find announcements, reminders, workshop news, and more. If you have an Instagram account just scan the QR code to the right and click the follow button, or search for SanDiegoKnitters while in Instagram.

Philanthropy News –  You can bring your latest donations to the next in-person meeting, or contact Colleen Lukoff to arrange a pick up. Check the Philanthropy page for Colleen Luckoff’s plans for donations.

Membership and Directory News –  While it’s too late to be included in the 2024 Guild Directory, you can still renew or join. Renew or join online with a credit or debit card! The online payment link can be found on the Membership Renewal Page. Renewing by mail is no recommended due to issues with the postal service.

2024 Guild Directories – Our annual 2024 Guild Membership Directory is not quite ready for printing as we had a number of late entries, partially due to missing mail and subsequently lost payments. I expect to mail them along with a new “namebadge” by March 9th, watch your mail box.
— Mar Gee Farr

Reminder! Checks to the Guild. All checks for the Guild must now have the payee name written out in full to “San Diego North Coast Knitters Guild”. No more abbreviations – read the announcement here.

Future Retreats  Mary Lovett has calendared the next two retreats in Temecula. The 2024 Summer Retreat dates are August 12 – 15; registration information can be found here. The 2025 Winter Retreat dates are Januay 20-23. Save the dates! A recap of the 2024 winter retreat with photos can be found here. Mary hopes you’ll join her at one or both of them. The retreats won’t be the same without you.

Check out a book from the Guild’s fabulous library! Read about our library and how to search the Guild’s books here. To check out a book, contact our librarian, Donna Mulcahy with your selection. She will bring it to the next in-person Guild meeting. Be sure to return any checked out books.

Volunteers are needed! Currently we have a need for volunteers to assist in preparation for the Annual Stash Sale – details can be found here. And, don’t forget the Annual Holiday Luncheon – we need new co-chairs and assistants. Planning for the Holiday Luncheon starts early in the year, so we need to line up our volunteers now. Details can be found here.

New Holiday Luncheon Venue – Help the Guild find a new Holiday Luncheon venue! We have out-grown our old venue. If you would like to assist in the search for a new location for our annual luncheon, or, you have a recommendation, please contact any board member,  or Carol Myers. We need to locate a new venue fast so we can set up a reservation.

February’s Show and Share can be found here. Show and Share is a hybrid! Bring your finished projects to the next in-person meeting to show them off. Or send in your photos and descriptions for virtual Show and Share! Instructions for submitting can always be found at the bottom of Show and Share pages. Links to older galleries going back three+ years can be found here.

Guild Subgroups Contact individual sub-group leaders for details. Lists of subgroups and contact information can be found on the Sub-Group Meeting page under the Calendar tab or by clicking here.
