March 3 – Irina Anikeeva and her Visit to the Guild

January 3, 2020

Irina Anikeeva

About Irina Anikeeva

Irina is descended from a line of lifelong crafters, and as a first child (and first granddaughter) in her family, she was taught various crafts by all her female relatives. Her maternal grandma taught her how to cross-stitch and crochet, her paternal grandma showed her cutwork embroidery, and her mom taught her to sew and knit. So, she really had a chance to try all different crafts.

Her heritage is from Eastern Europe, from a number of different nations and cultures. Irina is of Russian, Ukrainian, Polish and Lithuanian descent.

After getting her degree in Economics, she was working as a fashion retail manager for years, until she and her husband decided to move to the United States. After the relocation Irina continued with the same career but was thinking of trying something else. At some point she picked up her needles and became very involved in her almost forgotten hobby of knitting. Then Irina discovered Ravelry and it wasn’t long before she published her first pattern. Since then Irina has published another 140 patterns. She has created designs for magazines such as Vogue Knitting, Interweave Knits, Knitscene and Knit Now (UK).  Her portfolio includes collaborations with yarn manufacturers such as Brooklyn Tweed, Knit Picks, Harrisville Designs, Baah Yarn, Miss Babs and more. In 2018, she published Nautical Accessories Collection, which includes shawls, caps and cowls patterns.

Check out Irina’s Ravelry group, IrmianDesign, to keep up with all her latest designs.  Her lovely Idina shawl pattern is FREE when you sign up for her newsletter.

It turns out knitting was a great opportunity for Irina to work in fashion and to fulfil her creative potential.

Irina will be teaching two workshops – only $30 per workshop for members!
