January 10 – Florence Spurling visits the Guild Virtually

December 6, 2022

Learn about our January Speaker, Florence Spurling.

Florence Spurling

Florence Spurling is a textile designer based in London creating contemporary knitting patterns and teaching hand knitting, machine knitting and crochet.

Florence Spurling obtained a Masters in textile design from the Royal College of Art and in 2013 moved to the USA to further her design career. With a background in knitted textiles, embroidery and embellishment, the Florence Spurling Studio was formed as a platform to showcase innovative and fashion forward fabrics.

Florence Spurling Studio specializes in hand crafted and embellished textiles. Created by British textile designer Florence Spurling, this contemporary design studio celebrates traditional craftsmanship through the fabrics they produce for the textile and fashion industry.

The studio ethos maintains a respect for skilled handwork and continues to elevate craft techniques into a modern and experimental context. Knit, crochet, beading, embroidery, and fabric manipulation are continuously developed in the studio’s unique aesthetic to produce seasonal collections that are feminine, highly tactile, innovative and very decorative.

Ms Spurling has a studio website at florencespurling.com where you can learn more about her and find her contact information.

Many of her designs and patterns can be viewed here on Ravelry
