Barry Klein – Workshop 1

Wednesday, October 11, 2023 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Textured Knits

As knitting moves forward, we’ve seen that yarns are no longer full of texture. So, if the yarns are more classic and designed with luxury fibers, what style of pattern work and stitch work can we do to make the yarns fun and exciting, and what details can we look for as we look towards designing with these yarns.

In class, we’ll have sample skeins of many new and upcoming yarns for each student to knit and enjoy. We’ll be looking at stitch patterns that create detail and texture. We’ll look at stitch patterns that play with color as fashion. We’ll look at stitches that just make your mind explode but won’t make you break out in knitting panic.

Class participants will receive a handout with a lot of these adventurous and fun stitches. While we likely won’t have time to complete all of them in class, you’ll have the opportunity to start the process, and the handout will help you follow up with whatever we don’t complete at home.
