In Case You Missed It – Faina Goberstein Visted the Guild Virtually March 5

April 2, 2024

Faina Goberstein Visited the Guild Virtually March 5

Faina Goberstein

Faina Goberstein, the designer at FGDesigns, returned to the Guild via Zoom March 5. Faina loves to create texture in knitted fabric, as she showed us in her talk, “The Essence of Tuck Stitch.”

Her love of texture has led Faina to become an expert on the technique of slip stitch. Tuck stitch is a type of slip stitch that can be used to create an immense range of textured fabrics, from dense to lacy. She explained how tuck stitch relates to brioche, mosaic, and other kinds of slip stitch knitting. In tuck stitch floats from previous rows are picked and incorporated (tucked) into a stitch on the needle. Her presentation explored the many possibilities of this beautiful stitch.

Faina showed us swatches and projects from her books using many variations of tuck stitch. We were inspired by the beautiful results when she combines tuck stitch with lace, cables, bobbles, and other techniques for adding texture to our knitting.
