August 2023 Retreat Report

Correction – it was Nancy Nevin who demonstrated steeking.
Sixteen Guild members enjoyed three wonderful nights and four days at the Viña Lestonnac Retreat Center in the vine-draped hills and panoramic views of Temecula’s wine country. They were days and night free of home and domestic responsibilities, comfortable in air-conditioned bedrooms and meeting room. We enjoyed three really good meals each day. Snacks kept us going between meals (though unnecessary because the meals were so tasty and substantial).
We watched Nancy Nevin steek her sweater project. Virginia Wilson released her newly hatched monarch butterflies. Each night we watched glorious sunsets paint the sky. We helped each other with knitting project issues, chatted non-stop, and shared stories and project ideas.

Joining us were two new Guild members, Diane Bouche and Denise Caballero (wearing her fun Barbie sweater). We heard the coyotes at night, and knit outside in the quiet cool early mornings while drinking that first cup of coffee. It was a most satisfying and enjoyable experience. We can’t wait for the next retreat, January 22-25, 2024.
