In Case You Missed It: Sally Holt’s Visit to the Guild August 1

August 28, 2023

Sally Holt Visited the Guild Virtually August 1

Sally Holt visited the Guild virtually from the Rocky Mountains, August 1. She gave us an overview of knitCompanion, which she calls “a software package that has revolutionized the way we use and follow patterns.”

Sally is a lifelong crafter, including knitting, crochet and beading. She had 20 years of professional experience in the software industry before she started knitCompanion, which she originally developed for herself to use when she traveled. She released the app in 2011 and has since rebuilt it three times.

Current Tracking Pole

The app works with any pattern. Knitters can also choose from nearly 1600 knitwear designs that have been formatted for knitCompanion by a team of tech editors.

Sally walked us through the features of knitCompanion, including calculators, row and stitch markers, and even a timer. She demonstrated how to write notes on patterns.

Following her presentation, Sally answered many questions about the app. Although most members polled during the meeting use paper patterns, they were very interested in the possibilities of knitCompanion.
