September 2020 Brief Announcements and Events

April 5, 2020

All meetings for 2020 are now virtual using Zoom. Tips for Zoom can be found here.

Our September Virtual Speaker is Cecelia Campochiaro. Her latest book is Making Marls. Read an enchanting book review by Franklin Habit. New! Read about her Virtual Workshop just for the Guild!

Retreat News! Winter The January Retreat for 2021 is still on! Details and signup information are now available here.

Stash Sale – Lou Wanna still needs your input – read and take an important survey.

Additions to the Guild not appearing in the 2020 Directory – check here for updates.

See August’s Virtual Show and Share photos here. Send in your August knitting activity – it’s not too late to contribute! See the Virtual Show and Share page for details.

Knit@Nite News – August’s meetings were held via Zoom – see a Virtual Show and Share show here.

Ravelry Tip of the Month is on hiatus. Ravelry Tips have been archived in a drop-down box under the Knitters’ Resources tab, on the green band.

Volunteers are needed! The San Diego North Coast Knitters Guild runs on volunteers – without membership participation our wonderful Guild cannot survive. Nominations for new board members are coming up. Watch for an announcement regarding open positions for next year.

Other Events and Items of Interest:

Podcasts to Knit To  – Read Nancy Nevin’s new article regarding podcasts. Her original post What is Your Favorite Knitting Podcast? is still available.

Speaking of Podcasts – Eileen Adler just shared this with me – Fiber Hooligan. It’s been on hiatus for five years, and now Benjamin Levisay (head of XRX) is back with a number of interesting fiber-related interviews. The older ones may be available.

Quilting Enthusiasts – To learn about various quilting events, visit our Ravelry group and check out the thread called “Quilting Enthusiasts”. Unfortunately, many planned events have been canceled or postponed.

Visions Art Museum – Visions is a great quilt and textile museum in Liberty Station. While its focus is largely on art quilts, there have been other fiber art exhibits, including lace, knitting, and crochet. Find them on the web at VisionsArtMuseum.org.
