November 2023 Show and Share

November 26, 2023

November ACTIVITIES – WHAT’S ON YOUR NEEDLES?

Bring your Show and Share items to the next regular in-person Guild meeting and show them in person! (Note: December’s meeting will have a fashion show instead of Show and Share.) Download a Show and Share form here. If you can’t make it to an in-person meeting or there isn’t an in-person meeting, submit your photos via email or text. As always, instructions for submitting your photos for posting are at the bottom of this page. A complete list and links to all Guild Photo Galleries can be found on the drop-down menu under the Guild Info tab.

Click on any photo in the two galleries to start a slide show and view enlarged photos.

PHOTO GALLERY FROM THE November GUILD MEETING
Sue Kristiansen modeled her sweater ‘Sock Arms’, pattern by Stephanie Lotven; knit using Classic Merino Self-striping yarn by Gauge Dyeworks. The pattern is designed to use self-striping sock yarn for the sleeves. ‘I think these gradient sleeves are perfect.’
Shelly Gragg shared her Scandi Bloom Fingering Cowl, designed by Heather Best; knit using Sew Happy Jane Silky Cashmere – a merino, silk and cashmere blend. Shelly knit this as part of an online knit-along by Purl Together. This is Shelly’s second knitting project ever!

Sharon Hunt modeled her ‘Fearne’ top, designed by Florence Spurling; knit using Rylie by HiKoo – a baby alpaca, mulberry silk and linen blend.

Karla Alvry modeled a lace shawl, her own design; knit using Malabrigo Mora – 100% silk yarn. Karla combined lace patterns from Japanese Knitting Stitch Bible by Hitomi Shida and Heirloom Knitting by Sharon Miller. She added beads to the lace edgings. ‘I started and re-worked the piece at least 3 times.’

Sue Tavaglione modeled her Lace Kimona sweater, pattern from Herschners; knit using Premier Basix Silver Gem Worsted – an acrylic yarn. ‘Knit in one piece, top down including sleaves. Sue also wore her Alloy Mitts Fingerless Gloves from Interweave Knits Fall 2021, knit using the same yarn as her sweater. ‘The design was very creative using sliver leaf applied to the project – a challenging pattern!’

How to Submit Your Photos: Photos can be submitted either via text message or email to Kerry Nare. (Kerry’s phone number and direct email address can be found in the Guild Directory.) For clarity, image file sizes should be greater than 500 kb. Keep in mind when you take your photos, that projects show up best against solid backgrounds. Include a description of your project, pattern and designer name, yarn used, how you came to knit your project, and any other information you wish viewers to know. When texting be sure to include your name!

* Did you know? Smart phones have much better cameras than iPads or tablets and are as good if not better than many digital cameras, so if you have a choice, take your photos with your phone. You can text photos directly from your phone, no need to download first.

While there is no set deadline for submissions, please submit your projects by the 4th Monday of the month to ensure it is posted before the next News Blast goes out. Photos are posted according to the month they are received.
