PHOTO GALLERY FROM THE July GUILD MEETING
Tania Marshall and Karen Bochinski – Knitting the National Parks Hats designed by Nancy Bates, displayed on a table in the back of the room.
Tania knit her hats with stash sale sock yarns, held double. Her hats were: Mesa Verde, Grand Canyon, Lassen Volcanic, Joshua Tress, Kings Canyon, Mount Rainier, Yosemite, and Yellowstone.
Karen Bochinski knit her hats with yarns from Ewe Ewe, Quince and Co., and Malabrigo. Her beanies were: Great Basin, Joshua Tree, Crater Lake, Grand Canyon, Saguaro, Shenandoah, Yosemite, and Sequoia.
Nathine Nelson models her Gavstrick Shawl, designed by Marianne Isager and knit with two lace weight alpaca yarns held together – Isager Yarn Alpaca 1 and Spinni Lace.
Nathine Nelson models her ADVENTuresome Wrap, designed by Ambah O’Brien and knit with Urth Uneek fingering weight yarn in colorway #3004.
Maria Gualda models her kimono-style cardigan, Trinigan, designed by Andrea Mowry and knit using Cascade and Blue Moon worsted yarns. Maria modified the pattern length and substituted linen stitch for ribbing.

Leila Dooley shares a baby sweater, Cupcake, designed by Marsha Wenskay, knit using Ewe Ewe yarn’s Ewe So Sporty, a 100% superwash merino in ‘Cotton Candy.’

Sharon Hunt models her Slope tank top, designed by Shellie Anderson. She used Amano Samay, a pima cotton and bamboo fingering weight yarn which she hand-dyed olive green using a cold-water dye.

Karen des Jardins models her Notched Hem Tank, a pattern from Purl Soho using Hemp for Knitting Allhemp6 yarn in Raspberry color. Karen discovered early on she’d need more yarn but when it arrived the dye lot was noticeably different. Karen resolved this by adding irregular stripes to her project.
Sheila Kirschenbaum models her Forest Weave pullover top, designed by Yumiko Alexander, which she knit using DanDoh Cotton Tape yarn. Sheila adjusted her project to have less ease than the pattern called for.

Donna Mulcahy shares her Glacier Shawl, designed by Stephen West. She knit her shawl using Caron Blossom Cakes, a cotton and acrylic Aran weight yarn in two colorways: Caribean Sea and Tidepool.
M.E. Whitlock Fithian models her Vellichor pullover, designed by Andrea Mowry. She used Malabrigo Sock yarn in 036 Pearl and Spincycle Yarns Dyed in Wool in ‘Neveuary’. Per M.E. ‘At first tedious, but eventually it flowed nicely and went quickly. Simple boxy shape, knit in the round.’ She added length to the pattern in order to cover her midriff.
Sue Kristiansen models her Asti Spumante tee, designed by Thea Colman. Sue knit hers using two DK weight yarns: Louisa Harding Azalea in ‘Juice’, 100% cotton and Berroco Isola red ombre ‘Burana’, a cotton/linen/rayon blend. She also wore a Laura Nelkin beaded bracelet ‘Chronos’ on her wrist, knit from a kit.
Martha Parks models her sleeveless top, Kai, designed by Elizabeth Smith – a color block shell with a split hem and slight finishing trim on neck and armholes. Martha knit hers using Sandnes Garn’s Line, a cotton/viscose/linen worsted weight blend, in two shades of dusty green.

How to Submit Your Photos: Photos can be submitted either via text message or email to Kerry Nare. (Kerry’s phone number and direct email address can be found in the Guild Directory.) For clarity, image file sizes should be greater than 500 kb. Keep in mind when you take your photos, that projects show up best against solid backgrounds. Include a description of your project, pattern and designer name, yarn used, how you came to knit your project, and any other information you wish viewers to know. When texting be sure to include your name!

* Did you know? Smart phones have much better cameras than iPads or tablets and are as good if not better than many digital cameras, so if you have a choice, take your photos with your phone. You can text photos directly from your phone, no need to download first.

While there is no set deadline for submissions, please submit your projects by the 4th Monday of the month to ensure it is posted before the next News Blast goes out. Photos are posted according to the month they are received.
