Virtual Guild Meetings to Begin August 4!
The Guild’s executive board met June 25 to plan Guild meetings for the rest of 2020. Here are the results:
The July 7 meeting is canceled.
Beginning August 4 Guild meetings will be virtual. Led by Karen des Jardins, we’re still working on the technical details. We already have exciting programs planned for August 4, September 1 and October 6. We’re actively working on programs for November and December. As you can read elsewhere in this News Blast, the Holiday Luncheon will not take place in 2020. We hope to provide something fun for December, even if we can’t be together.
Our virtual programs will kick off August 4 when Karen des Jardins will reprise her popular 2016 tips program “Crowdsourcing Your Craft: How to Become a Better Knitter.”
Crowdsourcing is the process of obtaining services, ideas or content by asking for contributions from a large group of people, especially an online community. Karen will apply that process to knitting and bring us new approaches to old problems, including notions, shortcuts, tips and tricks.

Karen des Jardins is a knitting teacher and designer who has served the Guild as vice president and co-program chair. She has a degree in mechanical engineering and worked a number of years as a manufacturing engineer, figuring out better ways for assemblers to put computers together. This background, paired with a love for all things yarn, has given her a unique understanding of how to adapt knitting processes to best fit her students’ needs. This program is sure to make your knitting easier and more fun. Don’t miss it!
Stay tuned for more details on how the virtual programs will work and how you can be a part of this exciting new direction for the Guild.
