San Diego North Coast Knitters Guild
Minutes of the General Meeting
Tuesday, July 2 2019
Temple Solel

President Tina Rounsavell called the meeting to order at 12:35 pm. She welcomed new members and guests and asked that people silence their cell phones.

President Rounsavell conducted a brief business meeting.

Retreats: President Rounsavell announced that the balance of the payment for the August retreat could be paid today and that the deadline is July 18. Signups for the January retreat will begin at the September 3 general meeting.

Credit card payments: Treasurer Carol Myers explained the new option of taking credit cards in payment for classes and retreats. The Guild will pass along the fee for credit card payments. The fee for payment of classes is $1; the fee for payment of retreats is 2.75% of the payment.

Stash Sale: Chair Lou Wanna Katz announced that the Guild made a record $4,700 from the stash sale which included 545 pounds of yarn. She thanked everyone who donated yarn, worked the sale, and bought yarn. The Guild will start taking donations for the 2020 Stash Sale at the February 2020 meeting.

Philanthropy: Chair Ginny Newton thanked everyone for their donations. She announced that the next philanthropy event is Knit-a-Gift or Knit-a-Square on Wednesday, July 17, at 9:30 a.m. at Panera in Del Mar/Carmel Valley. Yarn and patterns will be available. Check the website for additional information.

Membership: Chair Nancy Nevin reported that she still has about 30 unclaimed nametags. She reminded everyone that the nametags will be used from year to year with year stickers added at the beginning of each new membership year. She requested that everyone wear their nametags as they enter the Temple Solel complex to help the guards identify Guild members.

Programs: Co-Chair Sue Zois announced the August and September programs. On August 6, Pat Mulcahy and Margaret Tyler will discuss the San Diego County Spinners and the International Back to Back Wool Challenge. On September 3, Anne Berk will discuss her own twist on intarsia, “Annetarsia Knits: A New Link to Intarsia.” Anne will offer four workshops. Check the website for additional information. Sue thanked Tree DeZazzo for helping with today’s event.

Programs Co-Chair Laura Brubaker explained the Fun and Games with Guild Members event. Members feasted on home-baked goods, fresh lemonade, and iced tea. Members then took part in “speed conversation” and played knitting bingo and what’s in your knitting bag for lovely prizes.

President Tina Rounsavell adjourned the meeting at 2:10 pm.
