February 7 In-Person General Guild Meeting

Tuesday, February 7 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Margaret Holzmann

Join us for the first in-person meeting of 2023. Members and guests are welcome. A meeting highlight is our guest speaker, designer Margaret Holzmann. Margaret will give a presentation on the principles of Geometric Knitting. This approach is used to produce colorful geometric and organic shapes using garter stitch and combinations of familiar, but not often used together, techniques. Margaret will present the inspirations for her designs, insights into how she designs the shapes and constructions, and color selection.

Margaret enjoys designing the big things: sweaters and blankets, using them as a canvas to explore color and shapes. As a former engineer, she excels in developing new construction techniques and the geometry of knitting. Her “New Colorwork” approach has opened up the possibilities of knitting and has resulted in two published books of her designs. Geometric Knitted Blanket includes 30 blanket designs and Safe at Home includes eight blankets as well as pillows and wearables. See more of Margaret’s colorful knitted work on her website at theknitwit.org.

We’ll also have in-person Show and Share! Bring your finished projects and show them to your knitting friends. You may download and complete the Show and Share form in advance. There will also be a brief Guild business meeting.
