Are you new to knitting in the round or reading a chart? This is the class for you. In this 3 hour, hands-on workshop you’ll come away with the skills you need to knit a hat with ease.

We’ll cover all the basics including:
– Knitting in the round
– Joining in the round
– Reading a chart
– Jog-less stripes
– Using double pointed needles
– Weaving in ends

Beginner. Basic knitting. Knit/purl; cast-on.

Supplies Needed

Pattern – You will be using Nancy’s Grand Canyon design for this class. The pattern is available on Ravelry or Nancy Bates’ Website, or in her book Knitting the National Parks.

Yarn – You have the option to purchase the pattern and yarn needed ahead of time on your own or to purchase a kit from Nancy in the class. (Kit pricing: $35 without pattern; $38 with printed pattern. Cash only.) Be sure your yarn is wound and ready to knit.

Needles
US size 5 (3.75 mm) 16” circular knitting needles
US size 7 (4.5 mm) 16” circular knitting needles
US size 7 (4.5 mm) double pointed needles (DPNs)

Other supplies
4 stitch markers (three of one color and one of another color)
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Pen or pencil for making notes, if desired.
