August 2021 Virtual Show and Share

August 4, 2021

August 2021 ACTIVITIES – WHAT’S ON YOUR NEEDLES?

Show and Share is currently a virtual activity and includes Knit@Nite photos.

To participate, send your photos* and descriptions to Kerry Nare – either via text message (preferred) or email (Kerry’s phone number and direct email address can be found in the Guild Directory.) Image file sizes should be as large as possible for clarity (ideally greater than 500 kb please.) Include a description of your project, pattern and designer name, yarn used, how you came to knit your project, and any other information you wish viewers to know, and when texting be sure to include your name! Items received after August 31st will be included in September’s Virtual Show and Share.

* Did you know? Smart phones have much better cameras than iPads or tablets, so if you have a choice, take your photos with your phone. You can text photos directly from your phone, no need to download first.

Click on any photo in the Gallery to enlarge or start a slide show, then scroll down to read details regarding the photos. For convenience, new photos will be added at the beginning of the gallery as they arrive, so check back periodically.

After you view this month’s photos, check out the new compendium of Guild Photo Galleries, found on the drop-down menu under the Guild Info tab.

Details regarding project photos

Photos (2): Mary Lovett – Pelle Hat
“Pelle Hat – pattern ‘Hat with X and O’ designed by Arne & Carlos. I used Cloudborn Fibers Superwash Merino Bulky yarn from my stash with US 10.5 and 11 needles. This was my first stranded knitting project. Knit at the August 2021 Guild Retreat in Temecula. Now when I review simple stranded knitting patterns I am confident about tackling this new skill.”

Photo (1): Beverly Karpf – Fantastitch Shawl
Member Beverly Karpf at the retreat, showing off her Fantastitch shawl by Stephen West. She’s started another of his shawls, the Slipstravaganza.

Photos (2): Colleen Davis – Browns and Blue-Greens
“Garment 1 has large blocks of brown or greenish brown blocks, all outlined in black. There’s a little texture here and there, but no short rows for a change. The second one has lots of short rows with color gradation of blue, turquoise, lavender and green.”

Photos(2): Deb Cravets – Pullover 1 and Pullover 2
The first sweater is “Sunshine Coast” by Heidi Kirrmaier. The yarn is Crystal Palace Yarns Panda Pearl, which is bamboo, merino, and silk. The second one is “Footprints in the Snow by Heidi Kirrmaier. Yarn is Mrs Crosby Loves to Play Hatbox Spindrift.
