Minutes of the General Meeting

Meeting held on Zoom
President Tania Marshall called the meeting to order at 1:04 PM.
She took a survey of guild members’ wishes regarding meeting in person or continuing Zoom through the end of the year.
Question #1: Would you attend an in-person October or November meeting with 100+ members and workshops with 20 to 30 attendees?
34% said they would attend if attendees showed proof of vaccination and wore masks.
32% said they would not attend under any circumstances.
Question #2: Should we continue with only Zoom meetings through the rest of the year?
75% said they were more comfortable with the virtual meetings for now.
Program Co-Chair Nancy Lerer introduced our guest speaker Mary Annarella, whose design name is Lyrical Knits. Her talk “Swatches are Lying Liars that Lie” was about the intricacies of swatching and pattern design.
At 2:08 PM President Tania Marshall began the business meeting.
Program News: Nancy Lerer announced that our next meeting will be on October 5 th with our guest speaker Cecilia Compochiaro. Cecilia will be offering workshops on October 6th and 7th .
Philanthropy: Debby Vacek will be collecting donations outside the Solana Beach Library on Tuesday, August 17.
Stash Sale: Debbe Deverill had to leave the meeting early, but Tania Marshall announced in her place that the Stash Sale in July was the best ever, netting over $6,000. When we meet in person again, there is a plan to set up a back table for members to do some low-key stash sale shopping. Debbe and Barbara Wright will not continue being stash sale coordinators, so the Guild is looking for volunteers for next year.
The president adjourned the meeting at 2:16 PM.
