Adding color to your knitwear is so much fun – try something different! Roositud is an Estonian inlay technique in which groups of stitches are wrapped as you work with a contrasting yarn. The best part of this technique is that you never knit with anything but your main color yarn! Intriguing, isn’t it? Just for this workshop, Irina designed a simple, attractive pair of fingerless mitts. She named them Talvel Mitts; the word ‘talvel’ means ‘winter’ in Estonian. The mitts include a stunning Roositud inlay as well as two other techniques frequently used in Baltic knitting: corrugated ribbing and the baltic braid.
