April Guild Meeting

January 20, 2018

Local designer and Guild Member Irina Anikeeva is our Guest Speaker on April 3

Bring your examples of orenberg lace and Estonian lace to the meeting!

Local knitwear designer and Guild member, Irina Anikeeva will give a presentation titled Knitting Traditions of Eastern Europe. Irina will give us insight into the origins of knitting in eastern European countries and the resulting influences of those cultures.

Irina moved to the US several years ago from Russia. She loves to design modern knitwear that is “practical, comfortable and fashion-forward. Irina’s comprehensive background in knitting takes inspiration from nature, art, and a myriad of intriguing sources. Because of her extensive, retail industry experience, she feels strongly that her knitwear designs must appeal to knitters wanting contemporary fashion.

Irina’s patterns are in demand internationally and are widely published. Two of Irina’s recent designs are featured in Wool Elements, a January 2018 publication. Many of her patterns for both women’s and men’s garments have appeared in magazines such as Interweave Knits, Vogue Knitting, knit.wear, Knitscene, Rib Magazine, Love of Knitting, and KnitPicks. Irina’s comprehensive background in knitting takes inspiration from nature, art, and a myriad of other things.

Irina will give two workshops on April 4. Registration opens at the February meeting.
