March 7 In Person General Guild Meeting

Tuesday, March 7, 2023 @ 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm

Wendy Tyler will present her talk “Exploration of North American Natural Fibers”

Wendy Tyler

Wendy Tyler, owner and operator of Black Wolf Ranch and Fiber in St. Ignatius, Montana, will talk about some of the different wooled animals found in North America and what each fleece brings to the fiber artist. She will share some of the heritage breeds that are struggling to survive here in the United States, the struggles fiber growers face and how fiber artists impact the art of fiber making. In addition, she will share the joys of raising the animals she has on her ranch and what she looks for as she designs yarn for her business. You will walk away with a newfound love of the animal through an exploration of how the product is produced and managed in a true Farm to Market story.

Read about Wendy and her ranch here.

Of course, we’ll also have trunk show! With yarns from Black Wolf Ranch and breed-specific yarn from some of the small farms Wendy purchases fiber from. Alpaca, Merino, Cormo, and Blue Faced Leicester wools will be represented. In addition, there are some delicious blends incorporating alpaca and other fiber. All fiber brought to the event is for sale and orders can be placed as well.

Show and Share – bring your finished items and show them off to your knitting friends! You may download and complete the Show and Share form in advance. There will also be a brief Guild business meeting.

Bring your stash sale donations to drop off, and finished Philanthropy contributions.
Note: Doors open at 12;00, the presentation will start promptly at 12:30 ending at 2:30. We must clear the room entirely by 3:00.

Hope to see you there!
