Details regarding projects
Photos (1): Marjorie Romkes – Shawls
“I joined my first MKAL earlier this year and ended up knitting two shawls since it was such a fun and interesting project integrating a variety of stitches and colorwork. The pattern is As You Wish MKAL by Mary Annarella [AKA Lyrical Knits]. Top shawl – a modified short version in Emma’s Super Silky yarn; After Dark, Dusk ‘til Dawn, Elephant and Whisper colorways. Bottom shawl – a long version in Miss Babs Yummy yarn; Wild Tulip, Varied Bunting, In for a Penny and Blizzard colorways.”
Photo (1): Debbie Vacek – Hats
Debbie had so much fun knitting last month’s hat, she made two more! The Polar Ice Cap hat designed by Melissa Leapman. The blue and pink hat was knit in acrylic. The multicolored one was knit in Bebe by Lang (a new superwash wool yarn) with a beige sport weight yarn of unknown fiber. Debbie donated both hats to Rady Childrens Hospital.
Photo (1): Aubrey Bubis – Cardigan
The pattern is Aileas by Isabell Kraemer knit in Malabrigo Rios. Aubrey says “I omitted the pockets and side cables for a more streamline look. I think this sweater is a total winner: well written pattern, squishy soft yarn, good fit, lovely details!”
Photos (4): Sue Kristiansen – cardigan
Lasa Cardigan by Carol Feller knit in Plucky Knitter yarn Crew DK
Photo (1): Debbie Cravets – tee
The pattern is called “Climb Every Mountain” by Heidi Kirrmaier. Knit in Queensland Collection Brighton Beach, a cotton/linen blend; the main color is color Parrotfish. The I-cord bind-off was done in Ella Rai Eco Organic Cotton, color Verbena. The pattern calls for the hem to be bound off in I-cord and the neck and sleeves to be finished in rib, but Deb decided to finish all hems in I-cord bind-off.
Photos (2): Colleen Davis – 2 vests
Garment 1: a pullover vest using coral, lavender and violet with accents of black and white stripes. I used short rows to knit side-to-side and the hemline is funky.
Garment 2 is a patchwork pullover vest with alternating motifs of plain and stripes and textures. Different shades of orange mixed with brown and black. Again, the hemline is funky.
How to submit your photos
Photos can be submitted either via text message (preferred) or email to Kerry Nare. (Kerry’s phone number and direct email address can be found in the Guild Directory.) Image file sizes should be as large as possible for clarity (ideally greater than 500 kb please). Keep in mind that projects show up best against solid backgrounds. Include a description of your project, pattern and designer name, yarn used, how you came to knit your project, and any other information you wish viewers to know, and when texting be sure to include your name!
* Did you know? Smart phones have much better cameras than iPads or tablets, so if you have a choice, take your photos with your phone. You can text photos directly from your phone, no need to download first.
While there is no set deadline for submissions, please submit your projects by the 4th Monday of the month to ensure it is posted before the next News Blast goes out. Photos are posted according to the month they are received.
