In Case You Missed It: Barry Klein’s Visit to the Guild

October 30, 2023

Barry Klein Visited the Guild October 10

Barry Klein visited the Guild

Barry Klein, a long-time friend of the Guild, presented “Fall Forward into 2024” at the October 10 meeting. He is the owner of Trendsetter Yarns, which he and his mother started 35 years ago, and he designs yarns and patterns for the company.

Barry discussed what has changed in yarn and knitwear design over the past few years and what we can look forward to in 2024. He offered a color forecast for spring as well as predictions about knitwear styles. Among his predictions, he told us to expect pockets that are not hidden but are featured as part of the design, and garments that are less cropped and more oversized.

Barry has been knitting for 50 years. “Let the yarn do the work” is his motto. He showed us unusual new yarns as well as old favorites along with both classic and new designs.

Barry asked, “What is fashion?” Fashion is personal, he said. “You make it your own with your choices.”

Throughout his talk, Barry displayed lots of sweaters, accessories and yarns to inspire us. After the presentation, Guild members visited a trunk show of Trendsetter yarn and designs and got to handle and try on these beautiful garments.
