Philanthropy News for August 2021

July 25, 2021

News and Meetup Announcement for August 17.

Debbie Vacek waiting for donations!

What a wonderful summer for knitting! I hope your knitting is providing much happiness and contentment.

In July, 109 knitted or crocheted items were donated to the Military Showers of Support and The Women’s Resource Center in Oceanside. Thank you to all philanthropic knitters.

I receive questions on what items are desired. At this moment in time, I happily have quite a few infant hats, so no more infant hats for a few months, please! What can always be donated are comfort scarves, dimensions of 5-6 inches wide by 50 to 60 inches long, done on large needles, size 10 or greater. A loose open stitch with comfortable soft yarn, machine washable can result in a treasured piece for the sad, lonely, or others in times of need.

I will again be at the Solana Beach Library lower level parking lot on Tuesday August 17, from 11 am to 12 noon, location details here. I will be outside in the shade of a tree knitting. Please join me – bring a beach chair, sunglasses, sunscreen, and water. The library is open, but not for groups. The meetup is for you to drop off your completed knitted items for donation and to obtain free yarn and patterns. If you have suggestions for other outdoor sites for a knitting meetup, please send me those suggestions.

If there are Guild knitters who have items to donate I would be happy to pick them up, just call me or write to me at PhilanthropyATSanDiegoKnittersDOT.com – my contact information is also in the Guild Directory.
