GF option for Holiday Luncheon
We want every member to be able to enjoy our Holiday Luncheon! If you have a medical reason to require a gluten-free option, and the vegan salad is not medically acceptable, please contact Raenell Transue directly by email or text (check the Guild Directory for her number).

New fiber arts calculators
We recently heard from the webmaster of FiberTools, spreading the word about this collection of 30+ free knitting and crochet calculators. Their About page is interesting reading [even, or perhaps especially, for this decidedly unmathematical knitter — Ed.] and the site promises that all self-service calculators will remain free. FiberTools has been added to our list of Knitting Resources that appears below (toward the end of each month’s News Briefs).
Do you have what it takes?
The Guild has been asked if any members would be intereested in the following:
The California State Daughters of the American Revolution is holding their American Heritage Contest and needs a non-DAR member with expertise and proficiency in various fiber arts to judge an estimated 10 entries in the Fiber Arts category. Judging is done from photographs submitted between December 1 and January 15. For more information, email Maryann Herrera (or contact the Webmaster for her phone number).
Fiber-y (and adjacent) things to do:
- Canyon Quilters of San Diego’s 2026 Marketplace takes place October 24 and features quilts, curated fabrics for sale, and many handmade items. Click here for details.
- The Santa Clarita Valley Quilt Guild’s 2026 Quilt Show takes place October 24-25. Click here for details.
- The SoCal Fiber Fair returns to Pomona on November 21 and 22. Tickets are on sale at their website; November 4 is the deadline to enter items in 16 different categories of judged competition.
- Add the Guild’s remaining 2026 presentations, workshops, and other attractions to your calendar (and see above for links to 2027 information)! Details are always available at Latest News and in our monthly News Blast, which is typically emailed to all members on the Thursday before each meeting.
Beware of scam emails
Be cautious of any email purporting to be from a Guild Board member and asking for money or a private meeting. Lately they’ve been masquerading as an “invitation” through Evite or other legitimate platforms. Don’t click on anything in these emails. Instead, check directly with the member (using their Directory email address) or the Webmaster to validate “fishy” messages.
