Minutes of the General Meeting

Temple Solel
President Tina Rounsavell called the meeting to order at 12:36 pm. She welcomed guests and new members and asked that people silence their cell phones. Tina introduced Programs Co-Chair Sue Zois.
Programs Co-Chair Sue Zois introduced speaker Simone Kereit and announced that there were still spaces available in Simone’s classes. Simone’s presentation was titled “Can I Use This? Yarn Substitutions to Make You Happy.” Simone identified the three properties of yarn to consider when trying to substitute: drape, content, construction. She then analyzed different yarns including wool, alpaca, cotton, bamboo.
After the presentation, President Rounsavell conducted the business meeting.
Stash Sale: President Tina Rounsavell reminded everyone that the Guild would begin accepting donations for the Stash Sale at February general meeting.
Retreats: President Tina Rounsavell reported that the January retreat was full and that the Guild would start taking signups for the August 17-20, 2020, retreat at the February general meeting. She reminded everyone that Winter Tatum was accepting payments from those who had registered for the January retreat.
Librarian: President Tina Rounsavell asked for volunteers to manage the Guild’s library collection. Renate Kamm has volunteered to handle the magazines. Outgoing Librarian Scarrain Gomes has outlined and divided up the responsibilities so that a team of volunteers could work with the library. The Guild also needs someone to store the collection. President Rounsavell reported that if there are no volunteers, the Guild will reconsider the issue of maintaining the library.
Membership: Membership Chair Nancy Nevin reported that members may now renew their memberships for 2020; the deadline for renewal is January 31, 2020. The dues will remain at $25.00.
Bust Buddies: Eileen Adler reported that Guild members had knit 180 bust buddy pairs in the past year; she thanked all who had participated. She acknowledged the work of two members, Terri Miles and Karen Bochinski, who had knit and donated the most bust buddies and presented them with special gifts. She presented gifts to all who had contributed
Holiday luncheon: Co-chair Willa Cather announced that there were only 8 tickets left for the holiday luncheon and that the ten reserved tables were all sold out. Co-Chair Karen des Jardins explained how to check-in on the day of the luncheon. Co-Chair Cather remarked that the holiday luncheon fashion show is the highlight of the Guild’s year and that the holiday luncheon opportunity drawing is a major fundraiser for the guild. She reported that the Guild needs a chair for the holiday luncheon for 2020 and asked for volunteers to step up.

President Rounsavell adjourned the meeting at 2:27 pm.
