May Guild Meeting

March 17, 2017

Guild Member Ursula Almeida is Guest Speaker!

Guild Member Ursula Almeida is our Guest Speaker at the May 2 meeting! She will share her knitting and design secrets in her presentation, Be Bold, Be Fearless, Be Creative! How do those creative types turn their ideas into knitwear, write patterns and sell them? What is their secret? For Ursula, the process of becoming a knit-wear designer was not easy. Self-doubt loomed in every corner of her brain but she navigated that minefield and came through on the other side empowered and inspired. Ursula now publishes patterns and promote her work with confidence. She will share her everyday tools for inspiration so you too can break through barriers from imagination to expression.

After leaving home in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, many crafts came and went rather quickly until Ursula rediscovered knitting. Originally taught to knit by her mother because she wanted to “do the one where the yarn was one long string,” her younger sister stepped in 20 years later when her attention span was ready to cooperate. Today Ursula can be found knitting and designing alongside family duties in a sleepy California beach town where she finds inspiration in nature but also in the everyday. She has a pattern published in a book by KnitPicks but finds the most joy in self-publishing her own designs. A knitwear designer with a passion for color and pattern, you can find Ursula on Ravelry as SheThinksSheCan!

Ursula Almeida Workshop

On Wednesday, May 3, Ursula will teach a workshop called, How to Independently Publish a Pattern.
