Guild Ravelry Forum Marketplace

September 26, 2019

SDNCKG on Ravelry!

Starting in October, our Ravelry forum will feature a Guild Marketplace thread for all product and service for-sale posts.

Here’s how we see the Marketplace working:

  • No chat — to keep the Marketplace easy to scan for new items, all conversations/sale arrangements must be handled by Ravelry private message (PM).
  • Once an item sells, the seller will mark the post SOLD.
  • The Marketplace thread will be open for 3 months, then that thread will be archived and a new quarter’s thread posted.
  • The thread will be “stuck” to the top of the forum. The new post notification will signal when something new has been added for sale.

At this time, we don’t anticipate needing any of the stricter controls that exist in other Ravelry forums’ marketplace threads. But the Guild reserves the right to refine our Marketplace in the future — for example, other forums define the number of posts per time period from any one source, limit “bump” posts, and so on.

Thank you for supporting the Guild, our members, and the greater Ravelry community.

— Sydnie Wauson, Guild Vice President
