August ACTIVITIES – WHAT’S ON YOUR NEEDLES?

Bring your Show and Share items to the next in-person Guild meeting and show them in person! Download a Show and Share form here. If you can’t make it to an in-person meeting or there isn’t an in-person meeting, submit your photos via email or text. As always, instructions for submitting your photos for posting are at the bottom of this page.

GALLERY OF Photos Received Virtually in August

Linda Berger’s Brioche hat, Sweetfern pattern designed by Liza Laird and Kate Madden. Knit in Retrosaria ‘Mondim’, a non-superwash fingering weight yarn from Portugal in off-white and rust colors.

Sue Tavaglione models her Lily’s Shawl, designed by the late Karen Joan Raz. Knitted with Just Our Yarn’s Almaza, a Tencel lace-weight yarn and with over 1600 size 6 beads! Sue shared that she ‘had this kit for years, it was intimidating yet was so beautiful! I decided to tackle the beads, lace pattern and fine thread and entered it in the San Diego County Fair for the first time ever. And won a First Place ribbon…silky thread yarn, size 2 needles and many YOs, SSSKs, YOs at beginning of each row…’ Beads were added one at a time with a crochet hook, project was finished with a cast-on short-row edging.

How to Submit Your Photos: Photos can be submitted either via text message or email to Kerry Nare. (Kerry’s phone number and direct email address can be found in the Guild Directory.) For clarity, image file sizes should be greater than 500 kb. Keep in mind when you take your photos, that projects show up best against solid backgrounds. Include a description of your project, pattern and designer name, yarn used, how you came to knit your project, and any other information you wish viewers to know. When texting be sure to include your name!

* Did you know? Smart phones have much better cameras than iPads or tablets and are as good if not better than many digital cameras, so if you have a choice, take your photos with your phone. You can text photos directly from your phone, no need to download first.

While there is no set deadline for submissions, please submit your projects by the 4th Monday of the month to ensure it is posted before the next News Blast goes out. Photos are posted according to the month they are received.
