Minutes of the General Meeting

President Tina Rounsavell called the meeting to order at 12:32 pm. Tina reminded everyone to silence their cell phones. She welcomed new members and guests. Tina then introduced Programs Co-Chair Sue Zois.
Programs Co-Chair Sue Zois introduced speaker Deborah Jarchow who spoke about “Make the Most of Your Yarn Stash: Weaving on a Rigid Heddle Loom.” Deborah discussed different brands of looms, the parts of the loom, the tools needed which usually come with the loom, and weaving terminology; she explained how to set up a loom. After her presentation, Deborah had a trunk show of her weavings and designs.
After the presentation, President Rounsavell conducted the business meeting.
Library: Chair Scarrain Gomes presented several books from the Guild’s library that Cecelia Campochiaro, our April speaker, recommended:

For more about sequence knitting, Scarrain recommended Mason-Dixon Knitting Field Guide No. 5: Sequencesby Kay Gardiner and Ann Shayne. The library does not have a copy but it is available at www.masondixonknitting.com.
Scarrain reported that the library’s copy of Sequence Knitting is missing and asked that it be returned.
MTM: Chair Maria Hoham announced that Karen Bochinski will teach a class on “Ravelry: The Best Database for Any Knitter.” The class is on June 11, 11am-3pm at her house in San Marcos and costs $30. Check the website for details.
Stash Sale: Chair Lou Wanna Katz announced that the annual stash sale is next month. She also said that this is the last meeting for drop-off donations but that members can contact her and she will arrange for drop-offs. She reminded members that the sale is cash or checks only, no credit cards. She still needs more volunteers as cashiers and for set-up and cleanup.
San Diego County Fair: Chair Jan Davis announced that the Fair is June19-23; the Guild exhibit requires one shift per day, 11am-4pm with at least 4 people. She needs at least four additional volunteers. Each volunteer will receive a free pass to the Fair but parking at the horse park is no longer free. She also announced that the Fair needs more items for competition and encouraged members to submit items.
Philanthropy: Chair Ginny Newton announced the next “Knit-a-Gift” event on Wednesday, May 22, at Panera in San Marcos, 9:30-11:30 am. She will have yarn and patterns for both squares and blankets and for baby items. Please R.S.V.P. Check the website for additional information. Ginny also asked for suggestions for other locations for future events.
Programs: Co-Chair Laura Brubaker announced the programs for the next several months:
June: Annual Stash Sale
July: Fun and Games: We will play games centered around knitting with prizes and refreshments.
August: International Back to Back Wool Challenge
September: Anne Berk will present a program on intarsia.
Winter Tatum was Master-of-Ceremony for Show & Share; Stacy Mann was the photographer.
President Tina Rounsavell adjourned the meeting at 2:17 pm.
