April Philanthropy News

Philanthropy Drop Off and Pick Up Event

Debbie Vacek waiting for donations!

It is quite amazing the giving and then giving again process involved with philanthropy. I am finding there are quite a few of groups of knitters (both SDNCKG members and their friends and relatives) supporting our Guild’s philanthropy effort. The following is a partial list of knitting groups: Seacrest Knitters, Villa Escondido, Kneedlers and Hookers from Ocean Hills Country Club, and our own Guild members who submitted completed knit items this past month.

I continue to appreciate the support of the seasoned philanthropic knitters from our Guild. Donations of knitted items such as baby blankets, lap blankets, booties, hats, and scarves are always appreciated. The knitted items should be of yarn that is soft and washable. Please wash your completed items, if you can, before donating.

I had only one person join me on March 16 –  thank you Mary Lu. On Tuesday April 13, 11am to 12 noon, I will again be at the lower parking lot of Solana Beach Public Library – see the event page for location details. This event will be for turning in completed items, distribution of free yarn and patterns. PLEASE contact me (by email, message or call) by April 9 if you intend to come. I will cancel this event if I don’t hear from any members, so don’t just come without contacting me first. This will be socially distanced with masks on. The staff at the Solana Beach Library miss our members knitting there; someday we will meet there again in person.

If you cannot drive to the Solana Beach, location please contact me so other arrangements can be made to collect your completed items. My contact information is in the directory, or I can be reached at the email address below.

Thank you. Stay healthy and get vaccinated!
