Philanthropy News for September 2022

I have collected many beautifully knitted and crocheted donations this summer. A huge thank you to members and others who have taken their time, energy and talent to knit for donation. Donated items have been provided by individuals from our Guild, as well as groups that like to knit and add their completed projects to our donations. In the coming days about sixty donated items will be taken to Rady Children’s Hospital and Volunteer Service, Veteran’s Administration Medical Center La Jolla.
I will be in attendance at the September 6 Guild meeting at the Encinitas Community Center. I will have yarn for distribution to use for making items for donation. I will also be happy to collect items that you may have for donation.
Hang-tags for your donations: The Guild website has a hang tag under the Philanthropy header for printing and attaching to your donated items. This is a place where you can write care instructions for individual items and lets recipients know where their item came from. Hats, scarves and lap blankets and other donated items should be machine washable fibers.
Individual Guild members and local groups – please keep an estimated record of what you donate in 2022 and the recipient organizations. I will send a request to our SDNCKG members later in the year (after December 1) for totals to be included in an annual accounting of this important mission.

Thank you.
