September 4 Guild Meeting

August 25, 2018

Lily Chin visits the Guild in September!

Throughout her career as a design professional, Lily Chin has had to produce things that are practical, knit-able and sell-able. To help her keep creativity fresh, Lily has found an “outlet” by creating and wearing outlandish, themed outfits that are totally and purely fantasy. She wears these outfits only once at the Stitches shows. Get a feel for where her ideas come from and see how her details translate these themes and ideas. See for yourself characters ranging from Scarlet O’Hara to Cruella de Ville to Cleopatra to Charlie Brown and how they are interpreted. She’ll explain it all in her talk entitled, Going Beyond Standard Knitting.

Lily Chin, named a “Master Knitter” by Vogue Knitting International, has designed knitwear for magazines and yarn companies for over 25 years. She worked with designers Ralph Lauren, Vera Wang and Diane von Furstenberg. She is the author of Knit and Crochet with Beads, The Urban Knitter, and Mosaic Magic, It’s been many years since Lily last visited the Guild–who remembers when that was? — and we are thrilled to welcome Lily back to San Diego.

Lily will be teaching four workshops on Wednesday and Thursday, September 5 and 6. Click on a title to see full details.
