September 2025 Show and Share

August 23, 2024

SEPTEMBER 2025 SHOW AND SHARE

Show and Share for September featured several items designed by prior speakers along with the “usual” selection of other lovely projects. Your next chance to show in person is October 28 (our “November” meeting). Save time and download a Show and Share form in advance. If you can’t attend the next in-person meeting, or have an item you’d like to show off now, you may submit photos and project details via email to the Webmaster. As always, instructions for submitting your photos for posting are at the bottom of this page. A complete list and links to past Guild Photo Galleries can be found on the drop-down menu under the Guild Info tab.

Click on any photo in a gallery to start a slide show and view larger versions of photos. Thanks to Tania Marshall for her tireless Show and Share photography duties.

PHOTO GALLERY FROM THE SEPTEMBER 2025 GUILD MEETING
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
Anne Sloop “hails a cab” to show off her Novel-T pullover designed by Laura Nelkin. Anne worked this Novus design in a cotton/linen/silk blend and calls it a “very interesting construction.”
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
Anne was also wearing Laura’s A Roll in the Hay cowl, which came as a kit with everything needed to dye the yarn and make the cowl. Anne shared the project with (and gifted the cowl to) her granddaughter.
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
Sue Kristiansen made Laura Nelkin’s Ola Lola top with a WoolDreamers wool/cotton blend purchased at the mill in Spain (while on one of Laura’s trips).
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
All of Sue’s jewelry (and her socks!) are also from Nelkin designs.

Betsy Frank showed her Dan Doh top, designed by Yumiko Alexander.
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
Betsy skillfully combined handpainted linen yarns from stash.

Willa Cather is A Study in Pink in her Melanie Berg top. She used Pascuali Artic Pearl, a light fingering SeaCell (seaweed) yarn and had to use US2 needles to get gauge. She terms the yarn “slippery but worth it.”
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
After taking Michele Bernstein’s workshop, Theresa Kotanchek tackled the Whale Conga Line cowl using stash yarns.
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
Theresa’s color choices in Red Stag Fibre Estate DK merino really show off the brioche details.

Sue Tavaglione made Sally’s (Melville) Favorite Summer Sweater with the exact yarn specified by the designer (Berroco Linet) — which Sue was fortunate enough to find at our Stash Sale! The pattern uses 2 needle sizes to create sheer and solid fabrics, short-row shaping, and seaming that Sue calls “a learning process.”
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
Susan Schock made the Mt. Ranier and Yosemite hats (by Nancy Bates) from leftover yarns.
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
She will Christmas-gift the hats to a niece and nephew (plus spouses) who live near the respective parks.
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
Netanya Cranford (left) shows off her Lake Hug shawl with designer Laura Nelkin. Netanya says the project was fun and that Laura’s video tutorials are great!
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
Nathine Nelson crocheted her Gerbera Daisy Top from Coats Luster Sheen cotton, leaving off the sleeves to create a vest.
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
Nathine’s Doodlebug shawl (from Linette Grayum) is knit in a Lotus Yarns blend of silk and cashmere.
0925 Show Share Nelson Kricka
Nathine also showed this Kricka top from Sherrie Kibler, knit in Eddie Bauer Adventurer cotton. When we came up short of a photo, she was kind enough to provide this alternate view.
virtual show and share submissions

Tania Marshall submitted two virtual Show and Share submissions this month.

0925 Virtual Show Share Marshall VERONIQUE Davidoff 2
Tania made Veronique by Alexandra Davidoff using Anzula Haiku for the scarf itself.
0925 Virtual Show Share Marshall VERONIQUE Davidoff 1
The coordinating band is from stash yarn.
0925 Virtual Show Share Marshall VERONIQUE Davidoff 3
Congratulations, Tania, on your first finished beaded project!
09 25 Virtual Show Share Marshall Philanthropy Blanket
Tania also finished this blanket from squares that were donated to Philanthropy more than a year ago. Tania let tham “marinate” as she puzzled over how to join them, ending up sewing them together by hand using transparent sewing thread, easing them together to accommodate the slightly different sizes. She worked the pie crust edge on a knitting machine. The blanket will go to VisTAY (see September Philanthropy article for the full story).

How to Submit Your Photos: Photos can be submitted via email attachments to the Webmaster. For clarity, image file sizes should be greater than 500 kb. Keep in mind when you take your photos that projects show up best against solid contrasting backgrounds. Include in your email a description of your project, pattern and designer name, yarn used, how you came to knit your project, and any other information you wish viewers to know. Be sure to include your name in your email! Tip — no need to complete a Show and Share form for virtual postings — just put your project information in the body of your email.

* Did you know? If you have the option, take your photos with your phone. Smart phones have much better cameras than iPads or tablets and are as good if not better than many digital cameras! You can email photos directly from your phone, no need to download first — just include your project information in the body of your email.

There is no set deadline for submissions; photos are posted according to the month they are received. Projects received by the 4th Monday of the month will appear in the next month’s News Blast.
