- What is needed/wanted?
- Hats, scarves, lap blankets, sweaters, and other specialized items are all appreciated.
- Hats for all sizes are welcome. Infant = 10” around and 5” high. Adult medium = 20-22” around and 6.75” high (without a folded brim). Adult large = 22-24” around and 7.25 high (without a folded brim). All sizes longer for a folded brim.
- Scarves are frequently sized at 4-5” x 48” or so – ideally not narrower.

- Baby sweaters and booties are welcomed.
- Knitted knockers, mittens, and fingerless gloves are all fine too.
- Soap sacks – cotton yarn 4 x 6” (provided with a wrapped bar of soap).
- Are there particular requirements?
- Every item should be completely finished and of good quality. Does not need to be perfect, but serviceable for the recipients
- Each charity has unique requirements. Our items are all given to non-profit organizations, following their stated needs.
- Baby items generally need to be machine washable.
- I have made things and given them to charity. Do you want to know?
- Yes! Please provide a count and what you donated, and to whom if possible. A number of our members do just that and we are glad to know of it.
- Do I need to label items?
- It is appreciated that you label your items. At the very least, please let us know if the item needs hand-washing. No pins or anything sharp.
- You can use the labels from our website or others of your own choosing.
- Does everything need to be made from machine washable acrylic?
- No! Each group has their own requirements; some needing machine washable, other are fine with hand washing or either.
- Great care is taken to ensure recipients get items that meet their needs and their ability to properly clean them.
- Do you have any patterns?
- There are a few patterns on the website, although you are free to use others.
- Top0down hats allow for better size control and do not require a gauge swatch because you can measure as you go.
- Where do the items go?
- See our Philanthropy page for a list of past and current groups.
- Can you take crocheted items?
- Yes! Scarves and lap blankets or baby blankets are often crocheted. We also have some people making crocheted hats.
