Minutes of the General Meeting

At 12:30 PM Co-President Renate Kamm called the meeting to order. She made several brief business announcements. Colleen Lukoff was collecting Philanthropy items and had some new project ideas. Signups for upcoming workshops were available at the back of the room.
Program Co-Chair Theresa Kotanchek introduced our guest speaker, Suzanne Nielsen. Her presentation was entitled “Knitting Tips and Tricks from an Engineer.” Theresa noted there would be a Zen Gardens Trunk Show at the conclusion of our business meeting.
The Suzanne’s informative session was more like a workshop with slides outlining her hints on technical aspects of manipulating stitches while working on knitting projects. She directed the audience to look her up on YouTube where she has a library of helpful videos. She also had a table with over a dozen knitted samples from her pattern library.
After the presentation, Theresa previewed our speakers and workshops for the remainder of 2024. Renate went on to the business portion of the meeting.
Mary Lovett advised there were still four rooms available for the August 12 to 15 retreat at Viña De Lestonnac Retreat Center in Temecula. Price is $648 for a single and $498 per person for a double, Renate thanked everyone for their stash sale donations and reminded them the Stash Sale is next month, June 4th from 11 am to 1 pm. Note – this is not our regular meeting time. There is still a need for a volunteer to be the San Diego County Fair coordinator for 2025 to 2026.

After explaining the logistics of the trunk show, the meeting was officially adjourned at 1:55 PM. The trunk show and sale continued until about 3 PM.
