May 2024 Show and Share

May 12, 2024

May ACTIVITIES – WHAT’S ON YOUR NEEDLES?

May’s Show and Share was a combination of in-person and virtual. Bring your Show and Share items to the next regular in-person Guild meeting and show them in person! Download a Show and Share form here. If you can’t make it to an in-person meeting or there isn’t an in-person meeting, submit your photos via email or text. As always, instructions for submitting your photos for posting are at the bottom of this page. A complete list and links to all Guild Photo Galleries can be found on the drop-down menu under the Guild Info tab.

Click on any photo in the two galleries to start a slide show and view enlarged photos.

PHOTO GALLERY FROM THE MAY GUILD MEETING
Shelly Gragg modeled her Fine Sand cardigan, designed by Heidi Kirrmaier, knit in Cestari Ash Lawn Collection dk – a cotton and wool blend. This was Shelly’s 3rd project ever.

Maia Gualda modeled her adaptation of the Sofie Sweater, designed by Susanne Muller, knit with Classic Elite Inca Alpaca. The project started out as a pullover wrap sweater but morphed into a cropped 2-button cardigan with ‘after-thought’ button holes, from a you-tube video ‘Tidy Afterthought Buttonhole.’
Theresa Kotanchek modeled her lace pullover ‘Waltzing on the Danube’ designed by Karen Damskey, owner of L’Atelier. Knit in Seia Bluebell, a worsted weight mohair/polyester/silk blend yarn with sequins. Theresa knit her tee with 4 strands of yarn held together on US 11 needles.

Dani Donnachie modeled her denim jacket with cable knitted sleeves. Dani knit the sleeves using a Barry Klein pattern, showcased by Barry during his visit to the Guild. Dani found the jack at a thrift store, and bought the yarn, a merino/cashmere/silk blend, at the January Stash sale.

Donna Huss – Alpine Bloom hat designed by Cailin Hunter, knit with Kelbourne Woolens Perennial, a merino/suri/nylon blend light fingering weight yarn.

Donna Huss – Fancy Hat, a pattern she found in a public library book ‘Knit Like a Norwegian,’ knit with Eddie Bauer Wool Paca, a wool/alpaca blend light weight DK yarn. The yarn is nice, but doesn’t hold up well to ripping.
Betty Kemper’s Wrist Warmers from Arne & Carlos practice pattern for their Cable Knitting Class, using ROWAN Norwegian Wool, a DK yarn. Betty loves these wrist warmers and may knit more for presents.
Carol Myers knit a wedding shawl for her sister, shown here wearing it at her wedding. The Gilda Shawl, pattern designed by Veronik Avery, was knit in La Bien Amiee’s ‘Felix’ lace. Carol posted the shawl on Ravelry as ‘May the Fourth be with You’ based on the wedding date. Carol worked on this shawl down to the wire, blocking it the morning of the wedding.
Colleen Davis – Crochet pullover in a grid design using bright colors.
Colleen Davis – Crochet pullover with an off-center granny square, created for her daughter.

How to Submit Your Photos: Photos can be submitted either via text message or email to Kerry Nare. (Kerry’s phone number and direct email address can be found in the Guild Directory.) Photos can be submitted email to the Webmaster. For clarity, image file sizes should be greater than 500 kb. Keep in mind when you take your photos that projects show up best against solid backgrounds. Include a description of your project, pattern and designer name, yarn used, how you came to knit your project, and any other information you wish viewers to know.

* Did you know? Smart phones have much better cameras than iPads or tablets and are as good if not better than many digital cameras, so if you have a choice, take your photos with your phone. You can text photos directly from your phone, no need to download first.

While there is no set deadline for submissions, please submit your projects by the 4th Monday of the month to ensure it is posted before the next News Blast goes out. Photos are posted according to the month they are received.
