February 7 Guild Meeting is In-Person in Encinitas!

Join us for an exciting in-person meeting at 12:30 pm in Encinitas. A meeting highlight is our guest speaker, designer Margaret Holzmann. Margaret will describe the principles of Geometric Knitting which is used to produce colorful geometric and organic shapes using garter stitch and combinations of familiar, but not often used together, techniques. She will present the inspirations for her designs, insights into how she designs the shapes and constructions, and color selection.
Margaret enjoys designing the big things: sweaters and blankets, using them as a canvas to explore color and shapes. As a former engineer, she excels in developing new construction techniques and the geometry of knitting. Her “New Colorwork” approach has opened up the possibilities of knitting and has resulted in two published books of her designs. Geometric Knitted Blanket includes 30 blanket designs and Safe at Home includes eight blankets as well as pillows and wearables. See more of Margaret’s colorful knitted work on her website at theknitwit.org. Margaret teaches for Vogue Knitting Live, Rowan Connect and Craft Cruises. She resides in Monrovia, CA with her husband and a cat and, intermittently, children studying at university.
Margaret will teach one 5-hour workshop on February 8 called Camp Along Blanket.
