Knitting in the News: Sheila Kirschenbaum has shared a wonderful article: “A Holocaust survivor spends her 110th birthday knitting – the craft that was key to her survival…” Read it here.
Something to Explore: Scotland’s National Gansey Project – Knitting the Herring. The project “..seeks to capture, preserve and highlight the unique knitting heritage of coastal fishing communities of Scotland.” While the collection project officially ended February 2011, the information and items gathered can be viewed here at Scottishgansey.org.uk – an interesting and educational virtual museum for all to explore.

Mingei International Museum is open, and has a new cafe! The Mingei is a wonderful museum of arts and crafts, located in Balboa Park. Check it out Mingei.org/whats-on.
Visions Museum of Textile Art – Visions is a great textile museum in Liberty Station. While its focus in the past has been largely on art quilts, this past year the museum expanded its “vision” to include all fiber arts. In recognition of its expanded scope, Visions has renamed itself Visions Museum of Textile Art and now has a new website VMOTA.org Check it out!
