Virtual Meeting via Zoom

President Tina Rounsavell called the meeting to order at 1:02 PM. She welcomed guests and told members their microphones would be muted during the meeting, but to use the Chat feature on Zoom to make comments or ask questions.

Program Co-Chair Nancy Lerer introduced our guest speaker, Carol Feller from Cork, Ireland. Carol took us on a virtual tour of Irish mills where we learned about the different yarns they produce, dyeing techniques and each yarn’s specific attributes. She went on to explore different cable stitches – from the simplest to the most complex – found in her book Contemporary Irish Knits. Carol Feller’s website is Stolenstitches.com.

After the program President Rounsavell conducted the business meeting. Instructions were given on renewing membership. Forms are available on the website under the Member Resources tab.

Retreats: Winter Tatum announced that the January retreat has been cancelled. The August retreat is scheduled for August 15 – 19. Normally signups for the August retreat begin in January, but due to Covid they will be delayed. Check upcoming News Blasts and Knitters News on the Guild website for more details.

Philanthropy: Debbie Vacek announced opportunities for philanthropy, such as donating yarn and knitting gifts for health care workers. Knitted squares will no longer be accepted.

Program News: Nancy Lerer announced Melanie Berg from Bonn, Germany will be our guest speaker on February 2nd. Due to the international time difference this meeting will begin at 12 noon.
