In Memoriam – Katherine Ball

January 4, 2020

In Memoriam

Katherine Ball, a Guild member of many years, passed away peacefully on October 27th after courageously fighting cancer for over a year. Born into a Navy family, she moved around the country many times, even marrying a Naval Academy graduate in 1972. Katherine moved a remarkable 23 times, and lived in San Diego five separate times, most recently since 2000.

An inspiration to all, Katherine was a mother, grandmother, seamstress, knitter, painter, manager, librarian, substitute teacher, real estate agent, Feng Shui consultant, an excellent cook, a Mary Kay consultant, an intuitive healer, and much more.

In recent years, she became an avid knitter, happily belonging to three local groups. Always cheerful, she enthusiastically knitted clothes for the guild’s Christmas Doll and cozy blankets, sweaters, and caps for her family. John says knitting was very calming to her, and she was happiest when knitting peacefully at home, listening to a good book on tape.

It was Katherine’s wish that her Stash be donated to the Guild and used in a way to benefit the Guild’s ongoing programs. It is thanks to Katherine and her generosity that the Opportunity Drawing prizes were so fabulous this year. She will be missed.
