February 2019 Guild Meeting

December 18, 2018

Suzanne Nielsen visits the guild February 5 – 7!

Every knitter wonders if her enthusiasm for a pattern will continue through to the finished project. Suzanne Nielsen will teach us how to know if you will like your newly-knitted shawl before you even cast-on! At the Guild meeting on February 5 in her talk entitled Shawls Deconstructed, Suzanne will discuss shawl construction techniques, which yarns are best for different techniques, and whether or not a technique is right for your current skill set and attention span. By the end of her presentation you might even feel inspired to design your own shawl! Plus, you will gain a few helpful tips and tricks from an engineer.

Suzanne has a background in engineering but her love of yarn is drawing her deeper and deeper into the fiber world. She is thrilled to be the Western US representative for Zen Yarn Garden, ChiaoGoo needles and several other fabulous lines. While she did not start knitting or crocheting until after college when she taught herself on a whim, her parents did prepare her from an early age. They would tie her shoelaces in knots to keep her entertained while they drove endlessly through the New Mexico desert. She hopes this skill and a love for puzzles will help her continue designing and teaching to inspire fiber artists. Read more about Suzanne when she was chosen Designer of the Month by Purple Lamb Fiber Arts, and see her patterns on Ravelry.

Suzanne will be teaching four workshops during her visit. Click on each title for details about the workshop and how to register.
