This attractive, fun to knit scarf will surely draw attention. Self-striping yarn gives the mitered squares extra visual punch. Learn all the skills to make the scarf: joining, magic loop knitting, mirrored decreases, a clever substitute for one of our decreases, and seaming. Many students will complete a square in class. We will all practice the seaming, too! Those self-striping skeins in your stash will be jumping out and begging you to knit them into Holey Squares….holey moly!
Level of Experience: All levels welcome.
Homework: Make a gauge swatch in garter stitch to achieve gauge of 16 – 18 stitches / 4 inches in bulky weight yarn. The knitting should feel snug and quite stiff. Using the long tail cast on, CO 24 stitches and work four ridges in garter stitch (8 rows). Bind off.
