Gobelen Bag Slip Stitch Techniques

In this class you will not only be learning all the stitch patterns that make this bag beautiful, but additionally we will also talk about four groups of slip-stitch knitting patterns.These groups are very different and you will see many swatches of unusual stitches. We will discuss yarns, tips, how to read charts and instructions for this technique for flat and in the round knitting, and color work. Many projects will be on display to illustrate the class coverage.

Level of Experience:  Advanced beginner.  You must know how to knit and purl.

Homework: Make a swatch in the following stitch pattern with background color (darkest of all colors you choose to work with in class). Size of swatch is about 5” x 2” . Do not cut yarn.

Little Herringbone pattern: (over odd number of sts)
Row 1: (WS) Sl 1 wyif, * p2tog-p1 in same 2 sts; rep from * to last 2 sts, p1, k1.
Row 2: (RS) Sl1 wyif, * sl 1-k1-psso-k1tbl; rep from * to last 2 sts, k2.
Rep Rows 1 – 2 for pattern.

Materials: Bring 2-3 balls of contrasting solid-color yarn (DK or worsted-weight) and needles, US 4-5 (for DK) or US 6-8 (for worsted).

Materials fee:  None

Cost:  $30 (members) and $55 (non-members; includes one-year membership in Guild).

Payment is due prior to the start of June Guild meeting. Pay by cash or check. Checks can be mailed directly to our Treasurer.
