Kristine Vejar – Workshop 1 Eco-Printing with Plants on Yarn

Wednesday, May 7 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Kristine Vejar WS1 1

Eco-Printing with Plants on Yarn

In this class, you will learn:
• How to print with flowers and leaves onto yarn
• Steps in the natural dyeing process to create long-lasting natural color on wool
• Which plants contain dye, their identifying properties, and where they can be found

Eco-printing is a wonderful way to connect with your garden and plants in a whole new way. This captivating technique provides a way to bring your garden everywhere you go and to create yarn that is uniquely yours.

In this class, we will be working with a yarn blank – a skein of our Annapurna yarn knit into a piece of fabric. Once you are done with the dyeing process, you can knit from the blank and create anything you would normally with Annapurna such as a pair of socks, a one-skein shawl, or combine with more yarn to create a larger piece. (An eco-printed sock blank as a contrasting color in a yoke sweater would be divine.)

You will leave this class with an eco-printed yarn blank and a practical foundation to starting your own eco-printing practice using “The Modern Natural Dyer.”
