Lacehacker + Lace Fixes

Join well-known lace designer Romi Hill in having some fun with her favorite lace tips and tricks in this hands-on 6-hour workshop. Learn about materials for lace knitting, Romi’s favorite no-fail garter tab cast-on to keep lumps away, her favorite stretchy bind-off, tricks for keeping edges loose when switching colors, reading charts and/or using them to check your progress while using written instructions, avoiding errors and fixing errors when you make them, using markers to help keep track of pattern repeats, managing beads, and so many other things that will make your lace knitting life easier.

We’ll be knitting a mini shawl and putting all of these methods to use!

Format: Lecture and hands-on learning

Length of class: 6 hours (9 a.m. – 4 p.m. with lunch break)

Level of experience: How to knit basic lace

Supplies for Class:

• Fingering weight yarn (Tip: Bring light-colored yarn that doesn’t split)
• US Size 4, 5, and 6 knitting needles
• 15 size 6/0 seed beads
• Small crochet hook to fit beads

Homework: Optional; provided after registration

Class Size: 25 maximum

Class Fee: $70 for members (paid 2026 Guild membership required at time of registration)

Cancellation policy: Refund of the workshop fee requires a cancellation notification prior to receipt of the class handout.
