Traditionally, the Guild has held a summer meeting in July or August where we kick back and share some fun time together. While we were meeting at the church, we usually held a potluck luncheon.
This year, because we’re meeting at Morgan Run, the summer meeting will be a bit different. Tuesday, August 2, we’ll meet at Morgan Run, but instead of a potluck, we’ll let Morgan Run do all the work. They’ll provide us with cold drinks and delicious desserts. The cost will come out of the fee we’re already paying. So it will be free to you!
What shall we do while we’re enjoying these treats–besides knit and chat, of course? We thought it would be fun to have a fashion show that’s a bit longer than our usual Show and Share.
For a theme for this fashion show, we’ve decided to pay tribute to our member Ellen Hesterman, who passed away a year ago in August 2015. She left the Guild a generous legacy that will help fund the Guild’s programs for years to come.
Ellen was an enthusiastic knitter whose knitting focused on shawls, vivid color, and textured yarns combined in amazing ways. Even if you didn’t know Ellen, you probably have a shawl, a colorful project, or a fabulous stash buster you would like to show off. If you’ve been reluctant to strut your stuff in the Show and Share at a regular meeting, the August meeting will be a fun and easy way to get started sharing your knitting with the Guild.
We’ll need a head count for Morgan Run so we’re asking you to sign up for the August meeting. There will be a sign-up sheet at the July meeting or you can send Program Chair Tina Rounsavell an e-mail. If you would like to participate in the fashion show, we would appreciate your signing up for that also.
Ellen, shown in the photo at left, modeled her Wingspan shawl knit in Noro Silk Garden. Nearly 11,000 knitters have shared on Ravelry their version of Wingspan. Why not share yours at the Fashion Show?
Join us August 2 for a relaxing summer afternoon of tasty desserts and even tastier knitting. Add this meeting to your calendar from the Meeting Event Page.
