Minutes of the General Meeting

President Mary Barranger called the meeting to order at 12:31 p.m. She reminded members the business tables for membership, workshop sign-ups, philanthropy, and library would be closed during the meeting so all members’ attention would be focused on the speaker.
Theresa Kotanchek, Program Chair, introduced the speaker, Kim McBrien Evans, who gave an information-packed presentation on Size Inclusivity and the Maker to a large audience. [Editor’s note: Kim has generously shared her slides with us; view them here.]
After the presentation, Theresa Kotanchek previewed future events. The May 2025 dyeing workshops by Katherine Vejar need borrowed equipment of pots, tongs, and hotplates. Since the dyeing workshops require prior preparation of student materials, registration must be finalized no later than April 14.
Jeanie Milliken, Stash Sale Coordinator, thanked all for the March donations and those submitted today. Collections will continue through May for the June 3 Stash Sale.
Mary Barranger noted that Colleen Lukoff, Philanthropy Coordinator, has new project ideas with patterns for distribution.
Betty Kemper, Retreat Coordinator, announced that registration for the August 11 to 14 Retreat will begin with the May News Blast.
It was announced that two complimentary tickets are available to the May Chula Vista Quilting Guild Show.
Sydnie Wauson narrated Show and Share while Tania Marshall photographed all the projects.
Mary Barranger adjourned the meeting at 2:00 p.m., followed by the Indigodragonfly trunk show.
