These “fading” techniques will be used to create a beautiful\, top-to-bottom reversible shrug or vest. Two sizes are now available!\n\n[caption id="attachment_8891" align="aligncenter" width="150"] Gradient Detail - click on image to enlarge[/caption]\n\nYou will not go home with a shrug\, but you will have the knowledge to start knitting one in a faded gradient of your choice. The pattern provided in class tells you\, row-by-row\, exactly how to do it—no math needed.\n\nNote: New pattern size added!  If you took the class last year and want the pattern for the large size\, contact Sheila.\n\nKnitting Experience: Knitters with intermediate skills will gain the most from the class. Knitting the shrug requires basic knitting skills including casting-on\, knitting stockinette stitch\, increasing and decreasing\, and stranded knitting.\n\nTools\, Supplies and materials to bring to class by participants:\na. Fingering weight yarn. Three yarns of the same color in different shades and tints. For each\, you’ll need 25-30 yards (2-10 gms each). Hand-dyed works better because of its variations but is not essential to learn the technique.\nb. Circular knitting needles appropriate for yarn (e.g.\, US 2\, 3 or 4). (Note - straight needles will not work.)\nc. Note-taking materials.\n\nNOTE: You do not need to buy or bring yarn for the shrug. You may want to wait until after we discuss various choices in class.\n\nHomework is required: Using the lightest or darkest yarn of the three test yarns\, cast on 30 stitches. Knit the next six rows to create a garter stitch (non-curling) border. Change to stockinette stitch for about 1.5 inches. Leave stitches on your needle and bring to MTM.\n\nCost is $30 for 3 hours. Fees are paid directly to the MTM instructor at the class\, or when registering at a Guild meeting. Participants must register in advance of the class with sufficient time to gather supplies and complete homework.\n\nClass size is limited to 12 participants.\n\nReminder -  participation is limited to Guild Members. Not a Guild Member? Check here for registration information.\n\nFor questions about the class\, registration\, and other information please contact Sheila Kirschenbaum. Sheila's contact information can be found in the Guild Directory.
