About IRINA ANIKEEVA

Growing up in Russia, Irina was surrounded by people who knit. It was not considered something unusual or difficult; it was just something almost every woman did. Knitters she knew were not “scared” by a problem; nobody found a technique “frightening” or a pattern “complicated”. Those were not the words she would have ever associated with knitting. And she quickly realized that even with basic skills, any knitter can make unique and well-fitted garments.
This approach eventually brought her hobby to the next level: designing her own knitting patterns. The first was published on Ravelry in 2014. Some 230+ patterns later, and having had the great pleasure of working with numerous yarn brands, knitting magazines, and publishing her own books, Irina still finds knitting design fascinating, invigorating, challenging, and exciting.
Irina and her husband moved to California in 2011. She found a large community of knitters, some of whom have become her close friends. And she is happy to share the confident and independent way of knitting she absorbed from generations of crafty European ancestors.
