In Case You Missed It — FEBRUARY 3, 2026 AMY SNELL VISITED THE GUILD

Amy Snell – The Right Yarn for the Job

Amy Snell
Amy Snell

Amy Snell, an instructor and designer from the San Francisco Bay area, had an amazing slide presentation complemented with several samples to visually demonstrate how crucial it is to find the right yarn for the job.

She delved into the importance of:
• Color – does it show off the pattern?
• Yarn Weight – what is the project’s purpose and what is the climate where it will be used?
• Fiber – how do different fibers behave? Consider drape, durability, and overall desired look.
• Construction – how is the garment put together? How is the fiber structured?

These four key attributes should be carefully considered when “auditioning” yarns for a project, to avoid misuse of expensive yarns unsuited to your purpose and a waste of your precious knitting time.

Amy is an outstanding instructor. Her website allows you to sign up for her newsletter and her classes, many of which are available on Zoom.
