START THE NEW YEAR WITH A Cast-On Party!
Mark your calendars for January 6, 2026 at 12:30 p.m. at the ECC.
Our annual Cast-on Party celebrates members helping members. socializing, and spurring creativity in the new year. We’ve even got door prizes — every attendee gets a ticket and a chance to win!
This year’s party also features:
- Pop-up shops from two LYS, Apricot Yarn & Supply (Liberty Station) and Hands-on Knitting Center (Redlands).
- The opportunity to use (and perhaps purchase) an I-cord maker that’s 3D-printed by our own Karen des Jardins.
- Plus, a sneak peek at major updates coming later this year to the Guild’s logo and website (thanks to a tremendous amount of work by Denise Caballero and other members of the website redesign working committee).
Helper Stations with knowledgeable volunteers will assist and advise on:
- Measuring for Garments
- Pattern Selection & Ravelry*
- SDNCKG Library Resources for Cast-On Ideas**
- Fixing Mistakes & Finishing
- Cast-On and Bind Off Tutorials
- Winding (with all the equipment you need)”
* The Encinitas Community Center has free Wi-fi, so bring your tablets and laptops to find patterns online.
** In advance, be sure to check out our Extensive Guild Library and request a book or three you would like to look through for ideas. Our Librarian will bring them to the meeting.
As always, you can drop off Philanthropy projects and Stash Sale donations or drop by the Membership table to pay for 2026. In addition, there will be plenty of “casual tables” where you can sit down with fellow knitters, share ideas, and make new friends.
You won’t want to miss this event. Come play with your knitting buddies!
